What does Vega mean?
The proper name of the brightest star in the constellation Lyra, from Arabic 'al-Waqi' ('the swooping/falling one', as in the swooping eagle). Its literal root is the bird of prey, but as a name its whole association is the star itself.
What does Amal mean?
An Arabic name meaning 'hope' or 'aspiration' (from the root a-m-l, 'to hope for'). Flag: used for both sexes, though far more common for girls; also note a distinct Hebrew word 'amal' meaning 'labor/toil', which is an unrelated sense.
